A conference concept for creative minds

Good ideas
go off script.

Two days of design, culture and useful disagreement. Away from the feed. In the same room.

01 / The programme

Bring a point of view. Leave with another.

Talks to open things up. Working sessions to try things out. This is an illustrative programme, not a real event schedule.

Question the familiar

  1. Opening talk

    Making room for the unexpected

    Inside the session

Start with a familiar brief and deliberately change one constraint. Mara shows how a sharper question can produce a direction that a moodboard alone cannot.

  2. In conversation

Does every brand need an opinion?

    Inside the session

Two perspectives on when a brand should speak and when it should listen. Bring an example of a message that felt earned, or one that did not.

  3. Working session

One object. Five ways of seeing.

    Inside the session

A working session using one ordinary object to test five visual approaches. You leave with a small set of experiments, not a finished brand.

    Amira North

  4. Open critique

Bring the work you haven't finished

    Inside the session

Put an unfinished piece on the table. The group practises giving specific feedback about hierarchy, intention and what to try next.

03 / Different perspectives

Not here to agree on everything.

Example speaker profiles created for this website concept.

Brand designer

Mara Solis

Identity beyond the logo

Mara works at the meeting point of brand strategy and graphic design. Her practice asks how an identity behaves in ordinary, repeated use, not just on launch day.

Independent editor

Luca Vale

Culture, context and the right question

Luca is an independent editor interested in the choices that make a story useful. His work connects visual culture, publishing and the context around a message.

Spatial artist

Amira North

Ideas you can walk into

Amira brings spatial thinking to creative problems. Her practice uses simple materials, movement and scale to test how an idea is experienced.

Between the sessions.

In this concept, The Switchyard is a converted workshop: a main room for talks, a studio for making and a shared table for the conversations that do not fit the timetable.

  1. 01

    Main room

Talks and open conversations, with pauses between sessions rather than overlapping keynote slots.

  2. 02

    Working studio

Small-group exercises with materials supplied in this concept. Nothing needs to be prepared in advance.

  3. 03

    Shared table

A place to compare notes and meet other participants. No real venue, access provision or catering is being sold.
